One of the world’s leading professional music schools, Yale has educated generations of students of exceptional musical and academic talent. This year’s recital will be given by the recent gold medalist and the William Peyton Shehee and Virginia Kilpatrick Shehee Award winner at the 63rd Wideman International Piano Competition, Yevgeny Yontov. Born in 1989 in Odessa, Ukraine, he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1990, began his piano studies at age six with Adela Umansky, and later received his degree summa cum laude from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University. At Yale he studies with Professor Boris Berman. Mr. Yontov has performed internationally as a solo artist with symphonies and as an active chamber musician.
