Singer-songwriter-composer Rufus Wainwright will be at the Arts Arena on the eve of the world premiere of his “Dream Requiem,” commissioned and performed by the Orchestre Philharmonic de Radio France on June 14.  Called the best songwriter on the planet by Elton John, Wainwright has recorded 11 albums, including the acclaimed “Poses” and “Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall,“ as well as numerous tracks on compilations and film soundtracks. He also wrote the music for theater director Robert Wilson’s Shakespeare’s Sonnets.  “Dream Requiem” will be Wainwright’s third major entry into the classical music world, following his two operas, Prima Donna and Hadrian.  He is a member of the Arts Arena’s Advisory Council.
