Lucinda Childs is an icon of post-modern dance. Now, at Théâtre de Chaillot from March 19-22, she presents four new short pieces, the first new works she has developed in almost a decade. Performed by the Lucinda Childs Dance Company, they include a solo danced by Childs herself and a larger scale piece set to the music of Hildur Guònadóttir and Philip Glass. Among her numerous awards and distinctions, Lucinda Childs is a Commandeur de l’Ordre de la Légion d’honneur and Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres; she received the Gold Lion at the 2017 Dance Biennale in Venice as well as the 2022 Dance Magazine Award. Childs is a member of the Arts Arena’s Advisory Council. She will be in conversation with Arts Arena Founder and Artistic Director Margery Arent Safir. A coupe de champagne will follow.
