François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Banque de France and Margery Arent Safir, President of The Arts Arena International, invite you to an exceptional concert.
The Arts Arena Yale School of Music Recital will be held in the magnificent Galerie dorée of the Banque de France, a spectacular gilded room with exceptional acoustics that once belonged to King Louis XIV’s “legitimized” son, the Comte de Toulouse. Today, the beautifully renovated gallery is open only by invitation of the Governor of the Banque de France. The Arts Arena is grateful to Monsieur François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Banque de France, and to Arts Arena Co-President Marc-Olivier Strauss-Kahn for making this event possible.
The recital will consist of a stellar pianist, tenor, and violinist selected by Dean Robert Blocker of the Yale School of Music and the School’s faculty.
Space is limited for this event. Priority will be given to ArtsArenaPLUS members at the Benefactor and Paton levels, then to those at the General Membership level.
Free of charge. A reception with the artists hosted by the Banque de France will follow the concert.
Vyacheslav Gryaznov, piano
Mr. Gryaznov graduated with honors from the Central Music School of the Moscow State Conservatory where he studied with Professor Manana Kandelaki. He proceeded with undergraduate studies at the Moscow Conservatory (class of Professor Yuri Slesarev), once again completing his degree with honors. He continued at the Moscow Conservatory as a post-graduate student, and is on the teaching faculty of the Moscow Conservatory’s Piano Department. In 2016 he accepted Yale University’s invitation to fulfill the highly prestigious Artist Diploma program under the Yale School of Music’s Professor Boris Berman.
Vyacheslav Gryaznov is a member of the Moscow Philharmonic Society, which represents him in Russia, and is an Artist-in-Residence with The Drozdoff Society in the United States. His 2016-2017 performances include the Berliner Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall as winner of the 2016 New York Concert Artists Worldwide Debut Audition; the Bay Area Steinway Society of San Jose, California; four performances with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra; multiple engagements for The Drozdoff Society’s Impromptu! Classical Music Recital series; as well as engagements in Russia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Austria, and France. He recently recorded a CD of his transcriptions on the Steinway & Sons label for release later this year.
With his own educational and charitable project “Rachmaninoff and his beloved Ivanovka,” Gryaznov released a CD of works by Rachmaninoff with some transcriptions of his own. The pianist’s discography also includes recordings made for the Melodiya label’s major project Anthology of Piano Music by Russian and Soviet Composers, including piano pieces by Glinka and the first recording ever of Alexander Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Sonata.
Vyacheslav Gryaznov is the author of more than 30 concert arrangements and transcriptions. His works have been performed by Boris Berezovsky, Alexander Ghindin, Nikita Mndoyants, Tomoharu Ushida, the Messiaen-Quartet, the Moscow State Chamber Choir, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and by many other musicians and collectives. They are heard in concert halls all over the world, and are chosen for prestigious international music contests like the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.
In 2014 Gryaznov signed a publishing contract with Schott Music (Germany). Presently, Vyacheslav Gryaznov is one of the few prominent Russian composers who are published by Schott (other names of world-renown include Nikolai Kapustin and Rodion Shchedrin). Some of his piano transcriptions are in the “Top Ten” list of Schott’s international sheet music download platform Notafina – one of the world’s largest.
Luis Aguilar Regalado, tenor
Mr. Aguilar Regalado, a native of Torreon, Mexico, was singled out by Mexico’s leading opera magainze, ProOpera as a “refined tenor with great musicality.”
Recent performances include Ferrando at Yale Opera’s production of Cosi fan tutte; in 2016, he made his debut as Count Almaviva in Barber of Seville with Opera de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico. Other performances and roles include Don Ottavio in Mozart’Don Giovanni, Belfiore in Mozart’s Finta Giardiniera, and Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale with Oberlin in Italy; also Nemorino in Donizetti’s LÉlisir dÁore, Florville in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschno, Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, as well as oratorio and art song. He holds a Bachelor in Music, magna cum laude, from the Hartt School of Music and is currently at the Yale School of Music as part of Yale Opera.

Sirena Huang, violin
Praised by The Baltimore Sun for her “impeccable technique…deeply expressive phrasing…and poetic weight,” Sirena Huang is one of her generation’s most celebrated violinists. She brings not only technical brilliance and powerful artistry to the stage, but also a profound sense of connection to her audience.
Sirena has been the recipient of numerous accolades and awards. Most recently, in February of 2017, Sirena was awarded First Prize at the Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition and in March, she was awarded the winner of the New York Concert Artist. In 2009, she won First Prize Gold Medalist of the 6th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. She won First Prize and the Audience Award at the Cooper International Competition in 2011. That same year, she was also named the first Artist-in-Residence of Hartford Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, she was awarded the Hannloser Prize for Violin at the Verbier Music Festival in Switzerland. She is also a top prize winner at Singapore International Violin Competition as well as the Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition.
Ms. Huang made her solo debut with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in 2004 at the age of nine, and has performed in seventeen countries across three continents. She has been featured as a soloist with more than fifty prestigious ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Russian Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the Staatskapelle Weimar in Germany. She has appeared as a guest artist at the Verbier Music Festival, Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, Sarasota Arts Series, Albuquerque Chamber Music Festival, “The Great Music for a Great City” series in New York City, and many others.
Motivated by a deep wish to inspire peace and harmony with her music, she has performed before world leaders, thinkers and humanitarians, including President Obama and Elie Wiesel. At age eleven, she gave a TED talk that garnered more than 2.5 million views. In 2006, she received the honor of playing for His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and thirty Nobel Prize Laureates at the World Peace Conference held in Petra. In 2007, under the invitation of former Czech Republic President Havel, she played in the Opening Ceremony of the “Forum 2000 World Conference” in Prague. In 2008, she was invited to perform during the ceremony in which the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity presented its Humanitarian Award to President Sarkozy of France.
In addition to her TED Talk in 2006, Huang has been featured on numerous radio and television broadcasts, including WQXR’s McGraw-Hill Young Artists Showcase and NPR’s “From the Top” as well as several interviews with WNPR, CNBC, WTNH, WTIC, WB20 and Beethoven Radio.
