Filippo Gorini, pianist, Sonata for 7 Cities

28 January 2025 | 19:30 – 22:00

Location: Columbia Global Centers | Paris, 4 rue de Chevreuse, Paris 6e

Many of you were present in December 2023 when, after a conversation with sculptor Alexander Polzin, Italian pianist Filippo Gorini gave an extraordinary performance of Bach’s “The Art of the Fugue” in its entirety, without music and without pause.  It is with great pleasure that the Arts Arena welcomes Filippo Gorini back for an avant premiere of his project “Sonata for 7 Cities,” which will be launched officially in Vienna.  After presenting the project, he will perform Schubert’s Reliquie Sonata, Gervasoni’s Sonata (a world avant premiere), and Beethoven’s Sonata op. 111.  A coupe de champagne will follow.

Mentored by the great Alfred Brendel, Filippo Gordini already counts among his awards the Premio Abbiati as best soloist of the year 2022, the most prestigious musical recognition in Italy, and First Prize at the Telekom-Beethoven Competition, as well as the Diapason d’Or (five stars) for his first CD (Beethoven). In 2021, at 25, he recorded Bach’s “The Art of the Fugue,” an accomplishment normally reserved for the most mature pianists. He has performed extensively on prestigious stages such as the Berlin Konzerthaus, Vienna Konzerthaus, London Wigmore Hall, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, Van Cliburn Foundation, Zurich Tonhalle. “There is no doubt: a star has risen, perhaps of the brightest kind.” (Diapason d’Or).
