He presides over hundreds of thousands of objects testifying to the French art de vivre, the savoir-faire of its craftsmen and industrialists from the Middle Ages to the present, and an institution known for its blockbluster exhibitions in the wings of the Louvre, among them the recent Christian Dior, Couturier du Rêve.
