Founder of Les Arts Florissants, perhaps the greatest Baroque ensemble ever, celebrated conductor, harpsichordist, and educator, William Christie is the high priest of Baroque music and the most decorated American in France. With Les Arts Florissants, he has made more than 100 recordings on the most prestigious record labels, and the ensemble has just created its own label. He is also intensely involved in transmission of cultural knowledge through the ensemble’s partnership with the Julliard School of Music, its Arts Flos Juniors program, and Le Jardin des Voix academy, all of which perform together at his annual Baroque music festival in his exquisite gardens. In 2015, Les Arts Florissants will take its place as an associate ensemble of the new Philharmonie de Paris concert hall, a remarkable architectural and acoustic feat due to open in January.
