Each year, a performer in residence at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center, Long Island, New York is selected for a Paris premiere at the Arts Arena. For this sixth Watermill Performance, Robert Wilson’s personal choice is cutting-edge Norwegian artist and vocalist Tori Wrånes.
Working mainly with performance, combining voice and sculpture as a point of departure, Wrånes uses sounds, costumes, props, architecture, and sculpture to deform her appearance and create new dreamlike constellations. Her work has been commissioned by the Biennale of Sydney and by PERFORMA 13, while her Arts Arena performance, « Sirkling,» premiered at the National Museum in Oslo in May 2017. A collaboration with Laura Marie Rueslåtten, it features Wrånes with four actors.
Free and open to the public.
Reservations are required.
The Arts Arena is grateful to the Jerome Robbins Foundation for its support of this annual event. We thank Robert Wilson and Shaikha Paula Al-Sabah of Kuwait for their participation in the selection process.
